The Governor’s Institutes of Vermont (GIV) seeks an experienced, organized, and dynamic Development Director to join our team!

This eight-month, full-time AmeriCorps role will have you reaching out into all corners of Vermont to communicate with talented high schoolers, their schools and advocates and engage them in GIV opportunities that change lives! You’ll use your outstanding organizational and communication skills to clear pathways for disadvantaged students to participate and your technological wizardry to help adapt award winning programs for modern times. You’ll spend your days writing, managing projects, communicating with outreach partners, conducting research assignments, obtaining resources and funding support, and working independently within a closeknit team to make sure that GIV’s 2021 programs are successful and transformational for the hundreds of young Vermonters who attend.
We’re looking for an flexible, entrepreneurial self-starter who is also a great team player, who understands the power of education and is passionate about helping Vermont’s talented and underserved students reach their full potential. The Governor’s Institutes is Vermont’s 38-year old statewide educational equity nonprofit whose mission is to empower young people with intensive, hands-on learning experiences in college settings which inspire their academic and creative passions, build confidence and leadership, and expand their senses of possibility. This is a federally-funded VYDC AmeriCorps position that pays a small living stipend (about $284/week if spread over 36 weeks) plus educational scholarship money and other benefits. Each GIV Institute hires faculty, staff and residential assistants whose backgrounds match the subject of that Institute. Typically, most hiring takes place in March, April and May.
GIV sometimes also hires Full-Season Senior Counselors. This summer-long role supports high needs students as part of the staff teams at several Institutes. Requires high energy and academic training and/or professional experience working with young people with physical, emotional or behavioral challenges or trauma backgrounds. GIV experience is a plus.
