The Governor’s Institutes helps Vermont create productive, empowered, and engaged young adults by reaching out to diverse learners with high-impact, world-class learning opportunities that stimulate their personal growth and expand their aspirations, perspectives, and career horizons.

Please complete the following survey so that we can learn more about you and your interests. Most questions are optional with the exception of some personal information that we need in order to contact you.

Please note:
This is a rolling application process but the GIV Nominations Committee will be following a timeline (see below) each year. If you are submitting your application after our review and candidate selection period, you will be considered for the following year.

This survey should take you about 10-15 minutes to complete, depending on the depth of your responses.

GIV Board of Trustee Commitment
Board term: 3 years
Total terms allowable: 3 consecutive (total 9 years)
Meeting schedule: Quarterly, and a 1-2 day annual strategic retreat
Committee work: Each board member is placed onto at least one committee
Annual Trustee Application Timeline
The following is the approximate timeline for our board nomination process. Please note that if you are completing this form between October and December of a given year, we will be unlikely to reach out to you until June the following year. 

Review of applications  Begins mid-June

Contacting candidates: Begins mid-July

Send out of final candidate invitations: September

GIV Board Vote: October

Orient new board member(s): November

New board members attend first meeting: December
