Roles at GIV Summer Institutes

NOW HIRING: Health & Medicine Institute Director

The Institute Director (ID) plays a pivotal role in shaping the student experience, faculty engagement, operational excellence, institutional partnerships, equity and access, and long‑term program sustainability. This is a seasonal role leading up to the summer 2026 Institute. Students will participate in 4 partial days virtually, and then live on campus for 7 days.

NOW HIRING: Health Advisor

The Health Advisor will read health forms of faculty and staff, summarize the significant information for leadership use, and oversee the policies and procedures for health staff in each Institute. The person in this role will also serve as the point of contact during the Institutes for staff who may need extra support or clarification on health issues as they arise.

Community & Operations Director

GIV Community & Operations Directors create vibrant, supportive, and compelling environments for students. This role focuses on fostering community, encouraging student interaction, and helping students build lasting memories while supporting their mental health and overall well-being. Ideal candidates should have experience in organizing events, building community, and demonstrating leadership within a student-centered environment.

Institute Nurse

GIV Institute Nurses proactively support the health and wellbeing of the teenagers and staff at our residential summer programs, and are passionate about opportunities for young people. In this role, you live on campus with the community.

Institute Mental Health Counselors

GIV Mental Health Counselors serve as the primary on-site mental health support for staff and students, helping them navigate challenges related to stress, anxiety, social adjustment, and emotional well-being in an immersive learning environment. This role includes both proactive wellness support and responsive intervention for individual students as needed.

Institute Faculty

These are the folks who share knowledge, passion, and expertise to make our Institutes a learning adventure.

Institute Staff roles vary at each Institute. GIV Staff work together to support students in their learning and in their connections by participating fully and proactively in community life. Staff will often teach classes, helping to facilitate an experience of academic, social, and personal growth for the students at the Institute. Staff work to foster a constructive and generative classroom experience for students and partner with the Institute Leadership team to build a deeply connected and supportive community.

Resident Advisor

These are the folks who really make the GIV magic happen!

Resident Advisors work directly with students and work as a team to create a safe, inclusive learning community for the students at GIV. Resident Advisors live on campus during the Institute, sometimes with 1-2 days before or after the Institute to help with planning, preparations, and training.
